Air Protection Sector: 2025 Results of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia

The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia presents the results of oversight activities in the field of atmospheric air protection for 2025.

A total of 617 violations were recorded, including:

• construction and manufacturing – 221 cases,
• mining – 37 cases,
• transportation of loose materials without protective covering – 84 cases,
• burning of stubble, leaves, waste, and cables – 226 cases,
• burning in forests and spontaneous combustion at landfills – 18 cases,
• services and other activities – 31 cases.

As a result of enforcement actions:

• 399 administrative penalties were imposed,
• fines totaling AMD 34,980,000 were applied.

In addition, environmental damage amounting to AMD 160,881,709 was calculated.

A total of 15 decisions were adopted to suspend the activities/operations of business entities operating without permits for maximum permissible emissions.

At the initiative of the Inspection Body, the requirement for mandatory use of dust suppression equipment in the construction and mining sectors was included in the “Comprehensive Program of Measures for 2025–2030 in the Field of Atmospheric Air Protection,” approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia (Decision No. 611-L of May 22, 2025). This measure is expected to significantly reduce or eliminate dust emissions into the atmosphere during operations.
