Water Resources Use and Protection Sector: 2025 Results of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia

The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia presents the results of oversight activities in the field of water resources use and protection for 2025.

A total of 202 violations were recorded, including:

• fish farming – 15 cases,
• water user companies and electricity generation – 57 cases,
• local self-government activities and services – 43 cases,
• production and construction – 74 cases,
• mining – 9 cases,
• other – 4 cases.

As a result of enforcement actions:

• 122 administrative penalties were imposed,
• fines totaling AMD 92,700,000 were applied.

In addition, environmental damage amounting to AMD 1,154,377,275 was calculated.

A total of 73 decisions were adopted to suspend activities conducted without water use permits.

As a result of these suspensions, approximately 268.5 liters per second, or 6,485,400 cubic meters of freshwater annually, were saved.
