
The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia presents the results of oversight activities in the biodiversity sector for 2025.
A total of 8 inspections were conducted across 6 branches of the “Hayantar” SNCO.
Violations recorded:
- 1,264 violations,
- 11,852 illegally cut trees,
- 4,255.2 cubic meters of illegally harvested timber.
Enforcement actions:
- 293 administrative penalties,
- fines totaling AMD 30,300,000.
Calculated environmental damage: AMD 907,914,459.
Regarding wildlife protection:
- 38 cases of violations in the keeping of wild animals and illegal hunting led to the identification of 284 animals.
- Confiscated items included 13 firearms, 22 rounds of ammunition, 21 boats, 248 fishing nets, and 4 homemade metal traps.
Animal relocation and rehabilitation:
- Seven captive Armenian red-listed animals (6 Caucasian brown bears and 1 bezoar goat) were moved to shelters providing optimal conditions.
- Three animals (1 wolf, 1 bison, 1 jackal) were released back into the wild.
- Two Armenian red-listed birds (1 peregrine falcon, 1 greater spotted eagle) found by citizens were transferred to the Yerevan Zoo.
