During intensified around-the-clock anti-poaching operations conducted across the Republic of Armenia from March 1 to 10, 2026, staff of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body recorded several cases of illegal hunting.
During the hunting ban and the migration period of the Common Quail, in areas adjacent to Shenik community, Armavir Region, citizen V.A. illegally hunted 53 quails using a 12-gauge hunting rifle “MR 155”.
In areas near Yegvard, Kotayk Region, citizen P.H. illegally hunted 63 quails with a 12-gauge double-barreled hunting rifle “MR 27 EM”.
Along the Yegvard-Ashtrarak highway, citizen A.A. illegally hunted 43 quails with a 12-gauge hunting rifle “MR 155”.
Within the framework of administrative proceedings initiated for these cases, the legally owned firearms of the offenders and a total of 159 birds have been seized.
The violators will be held administratively liable.
Personal property used during illegal hunting, including firearms and other equipment, is subject to confiscation by court order at the request of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body.
Operations continue.
Note: According to Article 88.4, Part 3 of the RA Code of Administrative Offenses, illegal hunting in prohibited areas carries fines ranging from 150 to 250 times the minimum wage for citizens, and from 370 to 2500 times the minimum wage for officials, in addition to confiscation of firearms, hunting equipment, or other objects used to commit the violation, as well as deprivation of hunting rights for 2–3 years.
