“Veolia Djur” to Be Fined for Pollution of the Hrazdan River

Based on a video published on March 14, 2026, by SHAMSHYAN.com titled “Wastewater from a sewer passing near ‘Argel HPP’ flows into the Hrazdan River,” administrative proceedings have been initiated by the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia.

It was established that on March 12, 2026, in the area of 12th to 15th streets of Argel village, Nor Hachn community, Kotayk Region, employees of “Veolia Djur” company opened a discharge valve of a sewer pipeline passing over the Hrazdan River in connection with works to eliminate a sewer blockage. As a result, wastewater was discharged into the Hrazdan River.

Following the completion of repair works, the valve was closed on March 14, 2026, at around 18:00, and the discharge of wastewater into the Hrazdan River was stopped.

The mentioned action, carried out without a water use permit issued by the authorized body, entails administrative liability.

Administrative proceedings are ongoing.
