Deputy Heads of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia, Vrej Galoyan and Levon Levonyan, met with the Governor of Ararat Region, Sedrak Tevonyan. The meeting was attended by heads of criminal and community police units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, rescue service representatives, heads of consolidated communities, representatives of water user companies, the “Khosrov Forest” State Reserve SNCO, and sectoral officials.
The main purpose of the meeting was to ensure compliance with environmental legislation in the region, prevent violations, and strengthen interagency cooperation.
The discussion covered issues related to the protection of groundwater resources of the Ararat Valley, prevention of illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixtures, elimination of cases of burning household waste, crop residues, reeds, dry leaves, and vegetation in agricultural lands, proper waste management, targeted use of land, and mechanisms for rapid response to community-level environmental issues.
The importance of the rule of law and coordinated, consistent daily efforts of all stakeholders in environmental protection was emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a timeline for further actions was defined, along with measures aimed at ensuring the efficient use of natural resources and preventing overexploitation.
