Today, the inaugural session of the Advisory Working Group, established under the Head of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, took place.
The group brings together representatives of scientific institutions, non-governmental organizations, and concerned citizens.
Welcoming the participants, Hovhannes Martirosyan, Head of the Inspection Body, expressed gratitude for their willingness to join the group. He emphasized that environmental protection and the rational use of subsoil resources require both strict oversight and open dialogue with civil society to provide faster and more transparent solutions to existing challenges.
During the session, members were presented with upcoming programs of the Inspection Body, the application of digital technologies, digitization processes, and preventive measures.
Special attention was given to the commitments undertaken by the Inspection Body within the framework of the COP17 conference to be held in Armenia in 2026, and to the oversight mechanisms that will ensure the application of international environmental standards at the local level.
The procedural rules of the Advisory Working Group, as included in the agenda, were unanimously approved, and sectoral priorities requiring systematic solutions were discussed.
H. Martirosyan responded to questions, assuring that this platform will serve as a professional filter where voiced proposals will contribute to improving inspection processes.
Concluding the meeting, the Head of the Inspection Body stated:
"The activities of this Working Group must be based on mutual trust and professional impartiality. Our joint efforts, including professional expertise and practical recommendations, will be directed solely toward protecting the public interest and ensuring environmental safety."
