Approximately 27 Million AMD in Damages to Water Resources: Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body Records Violations at

Based on an alert received regarding the reduction of water flow at Shaki Waterfall, inspectors from the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia (EPMIB) conducted an inspection at the "Shaki" Small Hydropower Plant (SHPP), operated by "HAKOBJANYAN AND GALSTYAN HPP" LLC, located in Shaki village, Syunik region.

As a result of the inspection, EPMIB officers established that the Company had been operating the SHPP in violation of its water use permit conditions.

The Company exceeded the established water extraction quotas, withdrawing an excess of 13,538,687 cubic meters of water from the Shaki River, and violated the monthly water extraction volumes, the permitted water use period, and the operational schedule.

An assessment of the impact of economic activities on water resources was carried out, amounting to 27,077,374 AMD.

The Director of the Company will be held administratively liable.
