EPMIB Suspends Operation of 10 Illegal Wells

During inspection activities aimed at protecting water resources, inspectors of the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia detected several cases of illegal water use in the Ararat and Armavir regions.

In the Ararat Region, A.E. illegally operated two deep wells for irrigation purposes in the settlement of Dalar without a water use permit. In Aygestan, M.G. and V.M.; in Berkanush, H.Ch.; in Mkhchyan, A.H.; and in Vostan, V.H. each illegally operated one deep well for irrigation purposes without the required authorization.

In the Armavir Region, L.M. illegally used water from two deep wells in the city of Vagharshapat (Ejmiatsin), while S.M. carried out unauthorized water use from one deep well in the settlement of Geghakert, also for irrigation purposes and without the necessary permits.

By decisions of the heads of the Ararat and Armavir Territorial Divisions of the Inspection Body, the operation of all 10 illegally used wells has been suspended.
