EPMIB Opens Administrative Proceedings Following Yellow-Coloured Runoff Incident in Kapan

The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia informs that, following the circulation of a video entitled "Yellow-Coloured Rainwater Floods the Streets of Kapan" and the public concern surrounding the incident, administrative proceedings have been initiated.

The proceedings concern the discharge of yellow-orange coloured runoff from the Kavart mining area into the streets of Kapan following heavy rainfall on 14 June 2026.

As part of the administrative proceedings, the Inspection Body is carrying out the necessary investigative measures. Water samples have been collected on-site and submitted for laboratory analysis to determine their composition and assess any potential impact on the environment.
