The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body hosted a working meeting dedicated to the preparations for the 17th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), which will take place in Armenia from 19 to 30 October 2026.
The Head of the Environmental Inspection and Mining Body, Hovhannes Martirosyan, received Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan. The meeting was also attended by the management of the Inspection Body and representatives of the team coordinating the preparations for COP17.
The participants discussed organizational and substantive aspects of the Conference, ways to strengthen interagency cooperation, as well as the Inspection Body's participation in both the Green Zone and the Blue Zone of the Conference.
In the Green Zone, the Inspection Body will showcase modern approaches applied in biodiversity conservation and state environmental enforcement. In the Blue Zone, it will organize bilateral and multilateral thematic discussions and meetings to present Armenia's experience in environmental enforcement and the reforms currently being implemented in the sector.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed to continue close cooperation by further defining the roles and responsibilities of the institutions involved to ensure the successful organization of the Conference.
