EPMIB Prevents Illegal Deep-Well Drilling in Yerevan

Following an alert received by the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia (EPMIB), an inspection was conducted in the area adjacent to 42/3 Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan, where drilling works for a deep well were being carried out.

It was established on site that the works were being carried out by “Vand-Gass” LLC, commissioned by the Shengavit Administrative District of Yerevan, without the required water-use and drilling permits.

As a result of the appropriate measures taken by the Inspection Body, the drilling works for the deep well, which were being carried out without the required permits, were prevented.

Administrative proceedings have been initiated and are currently underway.
