EPMIB Reports Fire Damage to Vegetation: Case Referred to Investigative Committee

On September 1, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body initiated administrative proceedings regarding a wildfire in the administrative area of Saravan settlement, Vayk community, Vayots Dzor region.

Within the framework of these proceedings, inspectors conducted an on-site inspection using modern drone-based measurement systems.

The inspection revealed that as a result of the fire, 823,817 sq. m (82.3 ha) of land near the M-2 Yerevan-Meghri road in the Saravan settlement area was burned.

Additionally, 58 trees of hawthorn, apple, and pear species were identified and recorded as destroyed.

The total damage caused to vegetation was assessed at 1,816,500 AMD.

Based on the collected materials, a report on an apparent crime has been submitted to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
